Election Day

Today was the presidential election here in Korea. They do things very different from America. First of all, they don't campaign endlessly like they do in America. Secondly, the whole country shuts down for at least the morning while everyone goes and votes. I find that pretty refreshing from the whole crazy election culture we have in the U.S.

This also meant that we couldn't get a typical breakfast. Everywhere was closed. We ended up finding a place that serves 김밥 (Kim Bap) which is rice and vegetables rolled inside seaweed. I actually really love this food. I would eat it everyday for breakfast if we didn't have 8 Ho Gwan right by our dorm. We also got some ramyun from a local market and made our meal out of that.
Despite sounding and looking meager this was a fulfilling breakfast.
Unwrapped!
Then it was time to come back to the dorm. The students were scheduled to start coming back tonight so we wanted to be prepared for that. Honestly, all I did all day was catch up on my blog. I like to switch back and forth between writing and watching a twitch stream or talking to people so sometimes it takes awhile. I was 2 days behind and Nathan also sent me the pictures he had been working on so I had a lot of work to do. Hopefully I won't fall behind again for awhile.

Anyways it was a good fruitful day! For lunch we went and got jjajangmyun. I love this food also, and we went to one of my favorite places as well. It's a bit expensive but well worth it. We also got some tangsu dishes which is fried pork. Such a good food day.
Tangsu!
Jjajangmyun and Tangsu
What ended up being inside of my MVP gift. Lol I don't drink coffee so I passed it on to the other boys.
The students started trickling in around 3pm or so while I was writing some posts. They seem happy to be back, and I know we are happy to have them. Sometimes it seems like it's a ton of work, but it really is rewarding. I had my Skype call with my parents at the normal time, and during the call I got a knock on my door. It was Heavy G and he handed me the phone telling me that it was for me. I was so confused. A woman started talking to me in English, so I answered her.

It ended up being one of the K-PACE RA's for the girls side of the program. I'm going to meet with her and Dr. Rhee on Thursday to help her with some English. (I'm pretty sure) still kinda confused on everything haha. Anyways that was the day. More class in the morning and a very busy schedule the rest of the week. Thanks for reading and I'll see you guys tomorrow!

Korean Word/Phrase of the Day:죽지마 (Jook Ji Ma) This means "Don't die". This has become a common saying with the boys as it can be very humorous to use at the right time. Try it on your boss next time he has a coughing fit!

TL:DR I am blessed.
