Saturday!

Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA. Like I said, things have been pretty busy here during my vacation week. I wanted to get in a lot of traveling and other things done so I've been running around doing that. My schedule has been erratic so I think once classes start up again this week I should be posting regular again. Thanks for being patient!

Saturday was pretty cool. I just stuck around Daegu and visited some pretty famous places. No Biggie. I set out about 11am and the first stop was 반곡지 (Ban Gok Ji) a pond about half an hour from campus. This pond is famous because a few dramas were filmed there. It's a pretty cool spot, check out the pics.

After that I got some lunch. 냉면 (Neng Myun) is the summer food, so I decided to go for that. The lady serving me was worried that it would be too spicy for me, but I assured her that it would be ok haha. After finishing lunch it was time to take a ride through the countryside and see what I could see.
A grave I found in the countryside.
Same grave
This was near a great view so I wanted to get some pictures
The car rolled to a stop in the countryside after taking a few different roads off of the main highway to get to this point. There was a construction site here with what looked like a brand new subdivision being built. I wouldn't mind waking up to this view every morning with a private neighborhood to enjoy.
After the relatively quick stop, it was time to try and head to 갓바위 (Gat Ba Wi). A gatbawi is one of those hats that Asian students used to wear, with the thin cylinder going up and the large circular top you might have seen in movies. Anyways this particular monument features Buddha wearing a scholars hat.

You have to climb a mountain to get to this monument, and frankly I didn't feel like going 2 hours to the top. So instead it was time for some "Korean pizza" which is basically baked vegetables. There are also usually small pieces of egg and seafood as well. I went to the bathroom here and the stall was pretty shocking. I had to take a picture to show you all.
First time I've ever actually seen one of these in person

After eating it was time to go to 팔공산 (Pal Gong San) which is the most famous mountain in Daegu. This was a real treat. Another cable car ride, and some amazing views later I was at the top. I got a video on the way down, I was honestly too scared to take my phone out of my pocket on the way up. If you didn't know, despite my giant stature I am pretty terrified of heights. I know, that's ironic, but hey it keeps things interesting.

I stayed at the mountain enjoying the views for a good 2 hours before heading back down and going to dinner. I missed my Korean buddy's from church back home so I wanted to have some 부대찌개 (Bu Dae Jji Gae) which is soldier's stew or army stew. (They had made this for me before I left and I loved it).
Budae Jjigae!
After that it was time to head home full but happy! Thank you all so much for joining with my travels. It's late now so I'm going to go to bed, but I will update Sunday and Monday when I wake up. Tomorrow is a vacation day since it's the presidential election! There's also a lot of crazy news to share with you all so make sure you tune in! Good night!

Korean Word/Phrase of the Day: 돈이 없어요 (Doan E Eob Suh Yo) I have no money! Haha, that's a good one for you.

TL:DR I'm in Korea.
